Nagano, Pure Linen

Nagano, by Vibe Ulrik +Rowan Yarns   Pure Linen This is a unique construction - each half of the sweater, so the right front and back, are knit as one. The left piece is one of those lovely lace stitches that Vibe does....with knit 2 together through the back loop on the right side and purl 2 together through the back loop on the wrong side. I did swatch it, but I have to tell you, I love the rustic look of this yarn in plain old vanilla stocking stitch...so I decided to do both sides the same. I love the way it grows diagonally from the centre seam! The pattern calls for the sleeves to be knit and then sewn onto the body pieces. I chose to pick up stitches and decrease down to the size of sleeve called for in the pattern, then knit top down following the pattern instructions! It worked just fine! I love the feel of this top - it is light and airy and flowy and it is the perfect length!!! As with all of my Pure Linen sweaters, I do wear a camisole und...

Seasonal Transition...

This time of year I find it hard to get into the swing of knitting for Spring/Summer!  I'll be honest, before becoming a Rowan Ambassador, I hardly (if ever) knit for for the Spring/Summer season! Perhaps in my mind I couldn't correlate S weater with S pring/ S ummer. Well, they all begin with S don't they? That's a S tart! Another S !!!! Living here in S outhern Ontario, we have all 4 S easons, but I have to tell you..... S pring and S ummer just sort of fly by. Perhaps that is why I have, in the past, just kept knitting along on my woollen projects....saving them up for the first S now fall in October (big smile here)! (ok, enough with the S's already!) Here it is, April 19 and I'm still wearing woollen sweaters. Although it was quite warm early this week, today there was a chill in the air and I wore my Emley , probably (hopefully) for the last time until the Fall. I've been thinking about Summer knits since I swatched the " 3 New Rowan ...

Here it is....I totally love this sweater! (I think the colour is a bit green in this photo - totally my fault  - too much tweaking of the photo!) See how wide it actually is?  I am cracking up while posing like this! it looks great against red brick too! By now I'll have waved good bye to my fellow Rowan Ambassadors!  But I'm still in the UK on Holiday with a friend.... In the mean time, if you want to see a bit of what's coming up for Rowan Fall/Winter?  "Like" my  Life Lackadaisical  Facebook page...because over the next few weeks....leading up to the July 15 release date for Rowan's Autumn Winter Collection, I'll be sharing my favourites of the new season! Be back soon! Happy Knitting, Anne

Challenge yourself!

This year I have been challenging myself to finish projects by a set date.  Not a firm day date, but a general "end of the month" type of date. To do this, you have to assess realistically the amount of knitting time you can give to a project, how much actual knitting there is in a project...and give yourself mini goals...like have the back finished in two weeks, then the front in two weeks, the sleeves in two weeks, finishing up - give it a week - and there you go, you have a finished sweater! If you meet your goal early, you have permission to go on to another project....a pair of socks, a shawl, or even start something else...but you MUST stay on track with the original "goal project". This year I have applied this principle to my Silkystones Cardigan.  I was so determined to finish this and blog about it, that there was still snow on the ground when it was done and I had to go on a road trip to take photos.   Remember this post ?  I won't forget this w...
