Martin Storey - Easy Aran Knits!

Image
Yes, MORE ARAN designs coming your way, this time from Martin Storey in his  "Easy Aran Knits" This design collection uses two Aran weight yarns.... Rowan's Fine Art Aran - now with 6 tonal shades added to the 8 hand painted original shades; and the new Super Fine Merino Aran - in a range of 12 sophisticated solids! The designs in this collection are classed as "easy", but that doesn't mean they are plain or heaven forbid, boring! "Clayton"  teams the casual sweatshirt style  (neckline detail, raglan sleeves... and a hand warmer pocket),  with the new "Super Fine Merino Aran" (Dusk 013) to reach a whole new level of casual sophistication! "Woolley"   is another "easy" raglan design,  with a knit/purl textured  allover check pattern. It is shown here in Fine Art Aran (Squirrel 002) "Saltaire" is a long "Coatigan" with side slit  deep bottom rib  and handy front b...

Follow Your Arrow 2

Image
ABA Chose 1 A because of that gorgeous picot edge! Decided to go with the wrapped bunches of stitches :) 3A Because it repeats the theme of the stranding on clue 2B Just in case one skein isn't enough, I went to my LRS, The Needle Emporium for a backup skein of Fine Art. My shawl has used up 63 grams of my 100 gram skein and measured 25 cm in depth and 110 cm in width so far. There are so many two colour shawls that I'm thinking of adding a second shade....we shall see :) Follow Your Arrow 2 Rowan Fine Art It's always fun to compare notes with a kitting friend! My friend Ros is knitting the Follow Your Arrow 2 also.... here is her shawl so far, clues AAB I love this blue/brown colour way.....she is using the luscious  Sundara Yarns ! Anyone else knitting Follow Your Arrow 2? Happy Knitting, Anne

If we got together to knit...

my coffee table would be stewn with my current knit projects... like these pockets for my Mette Cardigan. the cardigan is finished, seams are sewn, ends tucked in... I'd show you my mystery project! ...it all started when a stranger walked into the LYS...   "Follow Your Arrow 2" is looking gorgeous! 1a2b so far...but somehow with just 5 rows to go I've lost a stitch! Candice and I have started our own monthly KAL the Earth Stripe Wrap, a design by the incomparable Kaffe Fassett in Rowan's exquisite Kidsilk Haze , it was the cover design of Rowan Magazine 42 and now is available as a free download from the Knit Rowan web site here we intend to finish in 2015! while you were here...we'd watch this...and maybe some vintage Clint Eastwood after! Until next time,  Happy Knitting Anne x #Rowan #KnitRowan #KidsilkHaze #MartinStorey #Mette #RowanBrushedFleece #EarthStripeWrap #KaffeFassett, #FollowYourArrow2 #Y...

My Advent Challenge - knit a tree a day and add a little #HandKnitChristmas to our celebrations!  We were just at a "9 Lessons and Carols" service, and I loved being able to join in singing the Carols! Look at that cute striped tree! I need to make more of those! add lights for a little bit of sparkle! I think our dining room is going to be particularly festive this year!  Special thanks to my Sister who made our table decoration! My Blog friend Claire at KnitandPurlGarden has completed her Rowan Nordic Garland.....go visit her blog and say hi! Not everything in life is pretty and sparkly, but I love to add a little bit of knitting and colour to my life and share it with you!  Lackie and Daisy join me in wishing you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! During "the Holiday" I will be starting something new...just because I want to!  You can never have too many WIPs! Thank you for visiting  Life LackaDaisiCal!...

#RowanNordicGarland progress!

I have knit 6 trees for my Martin Storey Rowan Nordic Garland so far.  (I cheated and started on November 30 so that my finished garland ta da post would be on Christmas Day!) Not only did I start knitting a day early, I had my first Advent chocolate a day early too! I used Treacle for the trunk, and Pine (158) and Gilt (160) for the tree! The "official" start on December 1 was this adorable little tree done in Mineral (181) These are quick and easy little garter stitch trees! December 2 - not sure what I was thinking this morning!  The trunk is offset (like so many Christmas Trees that you buy) but I decided that it had to be finished and gave it a little wonky top too! This one is done in Maritime (167) and Mineral (181) December 3 - The pattern shows that the small garter stitch tree is alternated between each of the other patterns..... so you will be seeing a lot of them! This one is kit in Jaffa (188) which was a new shade added to the Felted Tweed D...

Kaffe Klatch - Week 3 Update! and a SPOILER ALERT!

Image
Ooohhh, the squares are piling up and I AM LOVING the KAFFE KAL! How about you? The Kaffe Klatch meeting this week was fun....we got together for virtual Afternoon Tea.   Ros was the hostess as she couldn't leave her house guest home alone. Yes, that's Pickles' foot...she was holding the square cheat sheet that Ros made up for her squares! Isn't that ADORABLE! Once you have knit the squares following the pattern a couple of times....all you need are these handy cheater sheets. What, you want a cheat sheet too?  Well, lucky for you, Sarah, one of the Rowan Ambassadors created a cheat sheet for herself - she is doing the Brown Colourway and you can find it here on her blog, Nottingham Knitter !   Then Anja (another RA) modified the cheat sheet for each of the other colour ways too! Get them at the I Am Snow Fox blog! Week 3 - Brown Colourway Even with her house guest, Ros has finished her Week 3 squares and she was wondering if 4 of each woul...

Friday Update....and Fine Art Aran Competition!

Image
Well, it has been a busy week here at Life LDC...... I can't believe it is nearing the end of August already....summer has flown by.  I am trying to take advantage of the great (not so hot you can't stand to be outside) summer weather and do whatever I can outside. My afghan is finished...a new project has to be cast on!  Rowan Fine Art Aran comes in hanks, so I needed to take my ball winder and swift out onto the deck!   Daisy of course likes to help! Gosh...look at that brown face! a year ago, when I took the photo of her sitting on my lap....she was WHITE!!!! what the heck? I think it is the food that I added to her menu....so out it goes! I hope to show you a pristine white Daisy soon! A trip to Georgetown for a knit/coffee "date" with my buddy Candice.....on the drive there, what did I see but this.... a tree decorated with bicycles! I had to stop for a closer look! Pedalling against Poverty..... The Lending Journey click through for more in...
