Churchmouse Color Play Wrap......Update!

Image
I'm still happily knitting my  Churchmouse Color Play Wrap ! Churchmouse calls this their "Bird of Paradise" colorway.... This little fellow comes every morning to our feeders - early! and he always gives the first seed to his partner - how adorable is that! (Yes, I'm trying to catch this in a photograph!)

I've been all wrapped up in my knitting!

Image
I've been quiet.....because I've been knitting..... If you're on Facebook....you might have already seen these....I do quick updates there. Colour C is done...I'd say I was over 3/4 of the way on this wrap - because I just can't stop knitting!

Colour Explosion!

Image
While I was at "the yarn store" the other day....Canada Post delivered a box.... I was there to witness the eruption....the  Colour Explosion ! These are sample knits of Churchmouse Yarns & Teas Color Play Mohair Scarf & Wrap Pattern Colour Explosion seems more appropriate - especially when you see them all together! My head started to spin... You know how much I love stripes and Kidsilk Haze.... Remember this ? I went to a lot of trouble here to make stripes!  (Not really, it was so much fun!) But now, you have beautiful Kidsilk Haze Stripe with shades selected by Kaffe himself! Rowan has put together this Mini Collection knitted using Kidsilk Haze Stripe. Each ball of Kidsilk Haze Stripe is the yardage of two balls of Kidsilk Haze ....so any design originally done in Kidsilk Haze  can be done in Kidsilk Haze Stripe! Think of the possibilities! ok.....I admit it...I am weak....

FBF - Favourite Blog Feature - and where it lead me today!

Julia Hedge's Laces "Oh damn," said Julia Hedge, "why didn't they leave room for an Eliot or a Bronte?" Check out this blog post on Julia Hedge's Laces......it's all great....but what really caught my eye was....it's at the end of this photo filled post.... The absolutely fabulous newly refurbished Liverpool Central Library! Here's  another article in the Daily News.... then there is this blog.... a sense of place Ronnie Hughes and Sarah Horton Here's another blog post about the newly renovated Liverpool Library! Skip to content I'd love a HUGE Library like this. My own little town last year opened a brand new Library / Arts Centre to service this growing community I live in.  Milton Ontario is the fastest growing community in the Province of ontario with a 56% growth rate (2006 - 2011)  I don't think anyone really knows how many people are living in Milton....it is growing too fast to coun

Yarn Overload!

Image
Julie at The Needle Emporium  had just posted that...the Fine Art yarn had just arrived...so I immediately jumped in the car....well, not immediately, but first thing the next morning! All 8 shades at once! I put one skein of each shade in a Phil Soak bucket and played! I kept moving them about to see all of the different shades - that Serin shade really caught my eye - but not for socks...... another shade that really caught my attention was....the subtle Chiff-Chaff! This is the Lark Scarf, knit in Chiff-Chaff! I'm planning on making this for the hubby - I think maybe knit at a slightly tighter gauge to make it more manly - what do you think? Isn't this shade fabulous!  Anyone could wear this incredible mix of neutrals. Hmmm....yes, I'll have to make this scarf for "the Hubby" :)

Applöse - Ellipses - a design by Romi

Design - Ellipses, a Design by Rosemary Hill used  Rowan Fine Art , shade Tawney 302 Beads by   Chivalry Beads and Supplies This is the kind of scarf you just have to throw on and play with.... I used almost the full skein - there were only  5 grams left of the  437 yards! The finished Ellipses makes lovely home decor! Here it is draped on the back of my kitchen stools! I added a touch of sparkle with just 3 little beads on each tassel! I'm not usually a pink person, but I love how the mauvy toffee colour shows when it's knit up! To see photos of all of the designs, visit the KnitRowan web site here... This yarn is glorious!  It's like knitting with air - it's so light and soft and cushy!  (Is cushy a word?) Read Clara Parke's review of this yarn  here . Knitted Pink started and finished so quickly, a lovely pair of socks from the Fine Art Collection booklet! I started the same pair of socks....but I AM NOT A SOCK

Everyone loves a little frog right?

Image
Not when it's Frogging on your current project they don't! Lovely yarn - quite slippery thought as I've found out twice now! See that rogue stitch that my needle is through? I stop and admire my work regularly :) but somehow overlooked this missed stitch! I'm trying to get this small project done - it's my way of getting the feel of a totally new yarn. Yes, I could have done socks, but this is going to incorporate tassels and beads ....oh my! off to frog back to this point.....sigh.... Happy Mother's Day everyone!

These are not your plain vanilla socks....

Eagerly anticipated.......a preview copy of the Rowan Fine Art Collection  arrived in the mail last week along with a skein of Pheasant Fine Art yarn. I've been contemplating ever since.  Make a pair of socks? Wear those socks inside your shoes and only have a little tiny bit of them show between shoe and pant leg?  Hmmmm.....not being a sock kind of knitter, I have started a sock, a plain vanilla sock, but it's just not doing it for me. Don't get me wrong - this yarn is beautiful and will make lovely socks....but I'm not a sock knitter.  I don't like the idea of knitting fine gauge gorgeous yarn to then stick a boot over it!   But if you like knitting socks, treat yourself to a skein - it will be well worth it!   Merino, Mohair, Silk - scrumptious! Then, a yarn fairy dropped by and added to my stash of this gorgeous yarn.... Lapwing (306)                           Pheasant (307)                            Waxwing (303) It tur

Rowan Fine Art Sock Yarn

Image
I just received this skein of "Pheasant" Rowan Fine Art yarn along with the Fine Art Collection to review for Rowan Yarns. I LOVE this shade...and I'm having a brain freeze trying to decide what to do with it. Does this ever happen to you - something is just so wonderful you can't use it because you are petrified you might not choose just the most perfect project to go with the wonderful yarn? Please tell me I'm not the only one!

Life LDC loves a little Glamour!

Image
I wanted to try out Rowan's Kidsilk Haze Glamour! looked around for something quick and easy, with a bit of Glamour and Drama! Trying to channel Kim Novak in "Bell Book and Candle"  and take a photo of these wrist warmers in the same style as the pattern photo... as I have no chocolate bunnies, Daisy stepped up! Then Lackie wanted in on the act!  Bedlam ensued.... Life LDC Glamour Wristees! Pattern:   white rabbit wrist-ees , by  Tiny Owl Knits ! Yarns:  Kidsilk Haze Glamour - shade 285 Smoke and Kidsilk Haze - a black shade from my leftovers! This adorable pattern was just the thing I needed to try out Rowan's Kidsilk Glamour yarn.  I did think of making the wristlets in solid Glamour, but the stripes were irresistible!  Out came my box of Kidsilk Haze leftovers, and after a bit of this and that - it had to be Black, for a bit of Drama! To give the shot of Glamour to this version of Kidsilk Haze, a fine nylon thread is added with quite tiny p
