Lucy Neatby Knitting Essential DVDs

Image
I just bought the Lucy Neatby "Knitting Essentials 1 & 2" DVDs. I got mine from Marsha White at the Needle Arts Bookshop , or of course you can get them direct from Lucy herself at Tradewind Knits . You know, I didn't get these when they first came out -- Lucy was at the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitter's Fair last fall promoting them.....and of course I felt that I didn't need any instruction on knitting essentials. (Silly me!) These are great videos -- very consise instructions with clear up-close photography. So, I recommend these DVD's for their clear how-to instruction. I loved Lucy's happy stitches -- her way of describing the stitches was perfect and I can see how it would be very clear to a new knitter (and to us "old" knitters too!). She doesn't do her steeks the way I would recommend for a traditional Shetland fair isle -- but again, she explains everything clearly, and shows how you can use a steek in your knitting to pre-plan cutt

Patience is a virtue.....

It's been ten days now since I received notification that "Blogger's spam-prevention robots have identified my blog as potential spam -- and as such they have locked my blog." When you follow the link -- Blogger says that since you are reading this, it's obvious that your blog is not computer generated spam, so just put the letters shown at the bottom of this message in the box, click send, and we'll review and unlock your blog. NOT! 3 responses -- maybe I'm confusing the issue by replying more than once -- note to self, even though you are extremely frustrated, don't respond again! Ten days and counting....Patience is a virtue which I'm running out of! YEAH! The Blogger Gods have opened the gates! Real knit blogging commences tomorrow! Happy Knitting!

Back to the regularly scheduled programming.....

Happy New Year. The festivities are over, and it's time to get back to our knitting. My only resolutions this year are to keep to my knitting (ie. don't get distracted -- do what you really want to do) and to blog fairly regularly, but not feel that I have to blog about just anything. Carolyn and I joined the Oakville Association of Knitters and Crocheters in November. We were interested in joining a group that was closer to home (only a 15 minute drive away) where we could have a night out to knit. We were very impressed with the organization of this relatively new knitting group, and at their inventive program. Here's an example of the kind of things they do. There is going to be an art show in Oakville in February. The Oakville Knitters and Crocheters were invited to do a display. I'm not sure who in the group came up with this idea -- a large number of..... basic black stretchy gloves were bought....and knitters were invited to fancy them up a bit, in a knitter
