Loving Denim as I do, it makes sense that I'd love the Original Denim yarn by Rowan.  It washes just like denim....the indigo dye fades off of the wear points...wash it in the machine, throw it in the dryer on hot and out it comes....in all it's indigo glory! I love the contrast of the stocking stitch body and the textured sleeves! I fell for the Thursford design in Magazine 59 the first time I saw it and knew that I had to knit it! While it is a basic sweatshirt style knit, raglan sleeves, wide neck...it's the little details that take it to a whole other level! The textured sleeves! The subtle shaping in the back! When Magazine 59 showed up here at Life LDC, I walked down to my yarn stash and pulled out some Denim, and cast on! 4 weeks later it was done and I've been wearing it....well, I've been LOVING it, ever since! Since it was still winter here, there are no pictures of me sitting in a boat.....but I did have denim...

As a subscriber, you get your Rowan magazine earlier than the shops....if you avoid the "spoiler" photos that start to appear, you get the joy of opening and seeing this... Gosh, when I was young, being tall was a bit of a problem. Women wearing pants in the business world was new....and they were rarely long enough for me at 5'10" I developed my sewing skills, and wore mostly my own creations. So, I do know how to sew! Technically :) I LOVE DENIM. I think I might have told you that before. In all styles, in all shades....even chambray which is the lighter version of denim. This year DENIM IS HOT! inspiration struck while at the English seaside.... combining the new " Rowan Finest " yarn with a Rowan classic , " Kidsilk Haze Stripe " I didn't finish knitting until I was home here in Ontario.... it is high summer, and I want to photograph a scarf that combines Mohair, Wool, Cashmere and Alpaca! was I crazy???? well, I may not live near the seaside, but.... off to Lake Ontario we went, for a "seaside" feel... this combination of Rowan Finest and Kidsilk Haze Stripe  is incredibly luxurious! knit simply in alternating sections of  stocking stitch and reverse stocking stitch.... inspired "over the pond"   it is a great reminder of a wonderful vacation! The  +RowanYarns  Pure Wool Worsted Mystery Afghan has absorbed all of my knitting time since it started, what, 9 weeks ago!  It can't be! Yes it can!!! I have completed 42 blocks so far....I just have 6 of the last block to do....this one...isn't it just the prettiest block? Do you have a favourite block? or one that you truly didn't like?  Did you stick with the patterns as written, or did you go off on your own? look at the clean lines of that couch... and don't you just love those floating shelves! that Noguchi table was designed in 1947! the Eames Chair in 1956 great designs stand the test of time! (As much as I'd love to say this was MY living room.... it is not.....) When I first introduced you to Rowan's new Fine Art Aran, it was so new that there were no designs "available" for the yarn yet. What Rowan did was select a collection of designs from the Rowan Archive to be reworked in this new yarn - and released them in the "Mini Collection knitted using Fine Art Aran" booklet. These "Mini Collection" books are a great way  for Rowan to repurpose truly great designs... "classics" reworked in new yarns.
