Canadian Knitting Icon speaks!

Some of you may be familiar with the book......

"Canada Knits...Craft and Comfort in a Northern Land"

and it's author, Shirley Scott........

Well, Shirl was featured today on a program called "Living Newfoundland and Labrador" on CBC.....it's a half hour show and one of the segments is about collecting Newfoundland Mittens. Shirl shows off her extensive collection and tells us why they are so collectible.

Go to the "Living Newfoundland and Labrador" main page and click on the recent shows link for Thursday......Shirl's segment is more than half way through the show, but it's a great show, so watch it all!

  1. I should watch that...I might very well have some mittens she would like. My ancestors were fanatical mitten and sock knitters.

  2. Anne- I'm glad that you're keeping in touch with Shirley.
She could easily have been a comedian, she's so down to earth and funny.

    I'll check it out.

  3. Oh, I wish I enjoyed making mittens. I like seeing other people's knitted mittens, but still buy my own. m :)

  4. Anne, thanks so much for this link. I met Shirl through my sister Lynne, but haven't seen her for ages, so it was great to see the TV segment. Knit on, Shirl!
