Let the knitting commence!

Finally, the knitting drought around here is over.

This might have helped -- a challenge by my guild, the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitter's Guild - knit a 6" square in PINK! Pink! Anyone who knows me would tell you that I'm not a pink kind of gal! But for a good cause, I took up the needles. You are probably expecting a pink piece of fair isle knitting -- but look, what could this be!
It looks pretty squirrely here, but with a bit of wet blocking, it'll be more recognizeable.
I'll give it a little steam blocking when I'm ironing this week. This is a very simple lacy pattern -- even I could do it! The Guild is going to sew all of the 6" squares into a Pink Afghan which is going to be raffled off with the proceeds to benefit a Cancer Recovery Program at the University of Waterloo -- good cause!

My square was done with Lipstick Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift -- looks so good I just might have to make a scarf with this pattern -- of course, it won't be pink!

So, this led me to picking up Alcea again -- and the next step was to cut open the front cardigan steek -- so here goes.

Yes, that's my scissors slicing right up the front steek -- I've picked up and knit the button side of the band -- I'm doing the button hole side now -- so next time, pictures of the bands with instructions.

Happy Knitting!

  1. Anne- The Lipstick color is a gutsy shade of pink. I know you're not a frilly sort of person.

Glad to see you're back in the swing of things.

    Hi Anne,

Just wanted to let you know I've been getting lots of use out of the Bressay jacket for which you got my Jamieson chunky yarn for me a couple of years ago. I even taught a class on how to make it here at home! I'm getting ready to teach a FI class now! I'm getting excited about it, too! We'll be starting small with a baby sweater so people can get the idea of the steeks. Take care.
