May Me Makes - Palladium sweater, Sandhill Sling and Shell Top!

I love my new Palladium Sweater - design by Martin Storey, from Rowan Magazine 68, knit in "French Mustard" one of the new Kaffe shades of Rowan Felted Tweed. I loved the deep V neck, the long relaxed length. I decided that it would be a fabulous base piece for my new curated wardrobe!

It's Me Made May on Instagram (and other social medias) and being the owner of a new sewing machine, I thought, why not make a new top? The Great British Sewing Bee....have you heard of it? I follow it on Facebook and the first project of the Bee was a shell top with a technique with an intriguing technique "bag out" LOL!!! I was intrigued. With some searching on the net.....I found a free Shell Top Pattern - very similar to what was used in the first episode of TGBSB.....it does have a hi-low hem which I sort of like, but everything else is the pretty much the same same.....including the "bagging out" instructions.

You can find it free to download here on the UK magazine "SEW" web site - Sleeveless Shell Top .

After my practice muslin, I adjusted the pattern with a FBA (full bust adjustment) - google it on youtube for many videos that discuss this.....and cut into some Kaffe fabric that I'd had for a few years.....purchased to be the backing on the Kaffe Afghan Rowan KAL tht I started, didn't quite finish, and gifted to someone who I knew would finish (but I kept the backing fabric).

The Noodlehead Pattern - Sandhill Sling really caught my eye and I made one using a beautiful linen canvas that looks almost like it's hand painted!

While styling the Palladium sweater, I was reminded of my Troll Bead leather bracelet - this year of staying home and not really paying a lot of attention to personal detail was reflected in my lack of wearing any kind of jewellery - so rediscovering my bracelet reignited my love for them....Troll Beads

That's it for May Me Makes!

 Take care of yourselves!

Happy Knitting!

  1. Beautiful knitting, Anne! The French Mustard is also one of my Kaffe favorites.
I would suggest using the measurements from your FBA muslin and applying them to your knitting gauge for your next Palladium sweater. Good luck, and happy knitting!
