With a little help from your friends!

One thing I learned while knitting my Kaffe afghan with my Kaffe Klatch buddies....sharing with your friends makes everything just better!  So I thought why not apply that to my every day knitting?

I have met a few knitters who I just knew right away were kindred spirits.  If we lived closer, I know we'd be having knit get-togethers! Maybe their gorgeous projects will encourage you to try something that you might not have thought of!

I first met Carole-Ann at the Docknits retreat weekend. She was introduced to me as one of the prize winners for the completed Martin Storey afghan. I remembered her photo right away - her garden shed all decked out in gorgeous knits, the highlight being her completed afghan!

Her prize was a bag of Brushed Fleece yarn in Lagoon (259).

She knit "Mette", a short sleeved, long length cardigan
knit in stocking stitch with front pockets and raglan sleeves!

This design is in the Brushed Fleece brochure
(16 designs by Martin Storey for men and women)

In this photo you can see her in her LYS Docknits, wearing her Mette, with a gorgeous hat/fingerless mitts combo that she designed and knit out of Rowan Fine Tweed. (Don't confuse Rowan Fine Tweed with Felted Tweed - totally different colour palettes and hand when knit - make sure you try them both!)

Carole-Ann and I have very similar taste in knits....my Mette is finished and waiting to be photographed for my FPP (Finished Project Post).

I am campaigning to change FO for FP......come on knitters, let's use FP for Finished Project :) !

Ingrid I met through my friend and fellow Kaffe Klatcher Darlene.

Ingrid knit this gorgeous sweater in Rowan's Felted Tweed in the shade Scree (165) which is a pale steely blue with darker blue and almost white tweedy flecks!

Here she is wearing her  Cloud Cover by Heidi Kirrmaier.  I had fun checking out Heidi Kirrmaier's design page on Ravelry and I'm sure you will too!

I love Ingrid's "JUL Bronze Twig" shawl/sweater pin. I was gifted one of these pins and I love it!  You can get one at Churchmouse!

Darlene is a long-time Rowan knitter. When she heard I was knitting Kaffe's Earth Strip Wrap from Rowan Magazine 42, she sent along this lovely photo as inspiration. Isn't it gorgeous?

This is my friend Ros' Earth Stripe Wrap!
(another inspirational photo!)

There are now 4 of us knitting this gorgeous wrap - two on either side of "the pond" as they say! Judy and Linda (Knitted Pink) in the UK, and Candice (Fair Ground) and I here in Canada. I am sure there are many more knitting this luxurious wrap, as Rowan has made the instructions free to Row@n Members!

Candice and I have luckily acquired ALL of the original shades. As some of these original shades are no longer offered in the Kidsilk Haze range...Rowan has updated their download pattern to reflect current shades of Kidsilk Haze.

I am sort of liking this new colour way......I love the shade "Fudge"....yummy! and "Blustery"....ooh, I think I REALLY like this new colourway

Why don't you join us? Let me know if you are going to knit the Earth Stripe Wrap - original as per Kaffe? this new colourway per Rowan? or what about an entirely original colour way for yourself!

Weekly Project Update:

Follow Your Arrow 2 - have to wind that new skein of yarn and knit clue 5!

Benedict Scarf - did a couple of rows but no major progress.

Earth Stripe Wrap - have done a bit on this too, but as I am way ahead of the scheduled per month number of rows, I can relax and get on with something else!

Mette - finished and ready for photographing!

My Emley - still need to sew those darn sleeves in - why do I get stalled like this?

Kaffe Mystery Afghan - well it is no mystery now :) and winners of the photograph competition have started to receive their prizes! The pressure is off, and I'll endeavour to get this finished before Fall 2015....so that we have another couch blanket!

Something new - I feel the need for something new....something colourful....something relatively quick...so not a sweater :)

If I sit down and finished my "Follow Your Arrow 2", I can cast on something new....not a sweater :) Deal?

Happy Knitting!

Anne

There are 6 new shades coming out this year....lovely..and the new Kim Hargreaves "striped" versions...not so obvious a stripe as the original stripes....but all GORGEOUS! 3. The Earth Stripe Wrap is gorgeous. I would be tempted to knit it if only I thought I would wear it. Isn't the knitting world great for meeting new people and making new friends? I had no idea when I got back into knitting over a dozen years ago that it was going to be about so much more than needles and yarn. I now have friends around the world, as I'm sure you do too, Anne.
